Detail Shots

Shooting the details is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day! I always start the wedding day off with the details. This really does set the tone for the rest of the day! In the beginning of my journey as a photographer, I always struggled to capture the rings and invitation suites in the way I always envisioned (Pinterest worthy).

So instead of accepting that detailed shots were a weakness, I began practicing at home using a few flay lay boards that I made DIY style with my own materials and jewelry. I studied Pinterest and a few bloggers and also checked out a few local Library books and started to find my detailed style.

Suddenly I found myself excited more than ever to shoot the details. With each passing wedding my excitement only grew as I realized how much creative freedom I had during this portion of the day.

Some tips.

1) Gather All of your Key Components in Advance-bride brings the invitation suite and rings

2) Choose your Light Source with Intention- Natural lighting from a window

3) Use Composition Creatively- Keep in mind The Rule of Thirds when positioning items within the frame to create a more visually dynamic photograph

4) Shallow Depth of Field-prime lens in a must!

5) Don’t Fear Manual Focus- this allows the images to be sharp and clear
